Susan Adcock, a Team Leader at our Head Office in Warrington, was thrilled to raise over £1600 for the Alzheimer’s Society alongside her friends by completing the charity’s fundraising hike, Trek 26.
Susan and her friends Avril, Lucy, Emily and Kat trekked 13 miles through the beautiful Lake District, circling the famous Ullswater and taking in the glorious views, raising money for a really important cause.
The group decided to complete the trek in support of the Alzheimer’s Society as Avril and Lucy’s father, Howard, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s earlier this year at the age of 66. The diagnosis came as a shock to the family and everyone who knows Howard, but the group were keen to fundraise for the charity, who provide such amazing support to people living with Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer’s Society provides services and support to people living with dementia related illnesses across the UK, as well as funding further research into the disease to further develop treatments and develop understandings about prevention.
Susan commented: “The walk was a challenge: It absolutely poured it down, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We may even attempt the 26 mile trek next year – we will see!
“We would like to thank everyone who donated and sponsored our walk. We raised well above our target, coming in at a total of just over £1600.”
Lynne Lister, Managing Director at X-Press commented: “Well done to Susan and her friends- they did amazingly and raised an impressive amount for a great cause. It is so important to donate to charities who have had a really difficult time over the past year, and we are proud that our employees and franchise network fundraise so often, for a huge number of causes and with such enthusiasm!”
