With the launch of a kindness pledge by Today’s Conveyancer magazine, the 26 office X-Press network has come together to back the move which is designed to reaffirm the commitment made as an industry to help each other navigate through these tough times.

Lynne Lister, managing director of X-Press Legal Services comments: “The last 12 months of the pandemic have taken their toll in both personal and professional lives. For our sector in particular there have been wild extremes of no activity during lockdown, the rush at the re-opening of the housing market then the surge in demand from the SDLT holiday. It has been a roller coaster for us all.”

X-Press owners are pledging to take responsibility for setting the right tone to create positive and productive outcomes for clients and each other.

Jennifer Van Deursen from Today’s Conveyancer comments: “For many of us, the challenges of home working and home-schooling have at times been relentless. Remember, everyone is in the same position. Everyone is human and doing their best. And most importantly take the time to appreciate what everyone is doing.

“The impact on the conveyancing communities wellbeing will be felt for some time and with the market showing no signs of slowing, there is a need to recognise the short, medium and long term effect on our industry.”

Mental health and well-being is also a key focus of this year’s Stress Awareness Month for the conveyancing community. The Conveyancing Foundation has launched a ‘Be Kind, We Care’ initiative, which has a dedicated resource hub, which offers access to a host of useful guides, top tips, podcasts and webinars to provide support to the industry.
